Summary

Timity is a local, anonymous, easy-to-use app for spontaneous meetups. It works without accounts, without registration and without permanently storing your data on a server. We keep no user database. We use no analytics, no ad networks, no third-party cookies, and we never sell or share your data with third parties.

What the app processes

• Profile (local only): nickname or name, age range, communication languages and an optional photo are stored only on your device and can be deleted anytime in the app's Settings.
• Nearby sharing (Bluetooth/Wi-Fi): while sharing is on, the app broadcasts an anonymous profile (nickname, age range, activity, optional photo) directly to nearby devices running Timity. Over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, none of this passes through a server.
• Location: used only to show you and people nearby on the map on your device. Your precise location never leaves the device.
• Map tiles are loaded from a map provider (OpenStreetMap, on iPhone Apple Maps).

Extended Range

By default, Extended Range is turned on; you can turn it off and back on anytime in the app's Settings. When enabled, it sends to the server the same information as over Bluetooth. Specifically:

• a temporary session identifier — created when you start sharing and destroyed when you stop; next time it is a different one; shortly after restarting sharing, the new profile also carries the previous identifier, so that ongoing conversations don't disappear. Each identifier is completely random.
• a coarse location cell (~150 m), not your precise location;
• the same sharing profile you broadcast to your surroundings — nickname, age range, gender, who you want to meet up with, communication languages, activity, recognition mark, and an optional photo if you have set one.

The data is not stored permanently on the server: it sits there only as long as needed to pass it on and expires by itself within ~90 seconds. It is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), is not tied to any account, and you can turn the feature off at any time. The data is processed on our server running on Hetzner infrastructure.

Tim-out

Lets you express interest in a public event and connect with others who did too. The server stores the event code, a random interest identifier, the public part of the encryption key, your nickname, age range and gender. We delete the record 24 hours after the event ends (for events without a fixed date, within 30 days of the last expression of interest), or sooner if you withdraw your interest yourself. We process Tim-out data on Cloudflare infrastructure.

Feedback

Text or voice messages from the app are delivered anonymously to our inbox; voice messages are automatically converted to text and the recording is not stored. Each piece of feedback is used only to improve the app and is not retained after review. Unlike feedback you would send from your own e-mail account, this method is completely anonymous and such feedback cannot be linked to a specific person or their e-mail address. We receive feedback through a service running on Cloudflare infrastructure.

Reporting content

When you report a message, the app sends us its text and the sender's temporary identifier. We keep them only for as long as necessary to deal with the report, and for no more than 6 months.

Why we may process your data

We process data for Nearby sharing, Extended Range, Tim-out and messages in order to provide you with the service you are using (performance of a contract). We process feedback and content reports, as well as data needed to protect the service against misuse, on the basis of our legitimate interest in improving the app and protecting its users.

Who has access to the data

The profile you create is not a user account; while you are sharing, it is seen by people nearby who use Timity. Providers of server, network and e-mail services are involved in running the service; they process the data only on our behalf and in accordance with our instructions. Some of them may also process the data outside the European Union, but always with safeguards under the GDPR. Some features of the app, such as translation or reading QR codes, use third-party services.

What we don't do

• No user accounts, no persistent identifiers.
• No analytics, no advertising ID, no tracking.
• No selling or sharing data with third parties.

This website and cookies

This website uses no cookies. There is no analytics, no advertising or tracking scripts, and nothing is loaded from other servers (fonts, maps, media players, social media buttons). All content, including the videos, is served by us.

The only thing the site may store in your browser is your language choice — and only when you switch the language yourself, so it stays set next time. It is not an identifier, it cannot recognise or track you, and clearing the site data in your browser removes it. That is why you will find no consent banner here: there is nothing to consent to.

Data deletion

All data lives on your device — delete it in the app's Settings ("Delete profile") or by uninstalling the app. Extended Range data expires by itself within tens of seconds. You can withdraw your interest in Tim-out at any time in the app; this deletes the record on the server.

Your rights

You have the right of access to your data, the right to rectification and erasure, the right to restriction of processing, the right to data portability and the right to object. As we do not keep accounts, we are usually unable to identify you; the quickest way to delete your data is therefore to do it yourself in the app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the state where you live.
